Jaw Tumors and Cysts
Various tumors and cysts are seen in the
jaws, which may or may not originate from the teeth. For the diagnosis of these
diseases, a small piece is taken and histopathological diagnosis is made.
Cysts in the jaws are often of dental
origin. These cysts, which can form around the tooth root, can reach large
sizes if they are not treated. Extraction of the tooth is not sufficient for
treatment in patients with a cyst at the root tip. If the tooth is removed and
the cyst is left in the bone, this cyst continues to grow and reaches large
volumes. As a result, a situation may arise where many teeth must be extracted.
